When we first moved into our home, we didn’t realize that there was no good drainage that would help move water out of our basement. My husband soon found out though due to one of the heavy rains we had a few months after we moved in. He got busy looking for drainage supplies in London in order to run some plastic pipe away from our basement and home and down into our driveway area.

He was fortunate in that he could do all this digging and putting the pipe in himself, as we know that plumbers can be very expensive. We had to hire one just to put a toilet in down in our family room area and there was not all that much involved, yet the bill came to around $250. The plumber we had was only here for about 2 hours, whereas this project of running the pipe to take water away from our home would have meant a much longer stay than 2 hours for a plumber.
